Time to Get Away
The school year will be over in a couple of weeks, and what a great time to get away for a weekend with the love of my life.
My brother-in-law graduated with a Masters in Pastoral Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, so my wife and I took a road trip to the Big Easy to attend, and we stayed at the rental property they secured for a week for the occasion. It was a late 19th century two story home a block from the Mississippi River.
We visited the famous Cafe du Monde for coffee, beignets, and mosquitos big enough to down a sparrow. We ate at Deanie's Seafood kitchen where I had the best seafood gumbo of my life.
As I write this, my wife and I are on our way to Fort Worth to stay the night before huffing it back to Norman to attend my daughters senior recognition service at Victory Family Church. It'll be a full weekend.
I will return energized and ready to finish the school year strong, but also ready to tackle the current novel with gusto since my brain has had a long drive to decompress it.
Sometimes you have to take road trip to clear your head. This one has done just that, and I got to spend it with my favorite person on earth.
